Squirrel Girl!

In my quest to find the perfect super hero to dress up as for the San Diego Comic-con, I found this little gem; Squirrel Girl. She has heightened reflexes, retractable claws and knuckle spikes, a big fluffy tail, and she controls a squirrel army! You can't get much better than that. And check out those threads...stylish! I wonder how many squirrels it would take to make that leotard.

Comic Con!

So I have scored tickets for the San Diego Comic Con. Apparently the tickets sell out super fast and though the convention is in late July, tickets for Friday and Saturday have already sold out. I was able to get two tickets for Thursday. I'm super excited, but I have a dilemma.

Those who know me, know I LOVE to dress in costumes. I cannot pass up this opportunity to make something fun and not feel like a total outcast wearing. I'll be among my people! However, I have no idea what I should dress as. I have not been reading enough comics as of late so my inspiration is running low.

This is what I task to you, oh readers. What are your suggestions for me? Who should I dress as? Links to pictures are welcome!

Then in a moment of indecision when I wanted to make a new playlist I deleted it. So I've attempted to recreate this super awesome playlist (which now is saved on my ipod) to share with you.

Lost time warp!

A little more to wet the whistles of the Lost obsessed. Here is official teaser for season six. Mostly it just shows clips leading up to the last season, but the very end is rather interesting. Does this mean that season six will replay the events of season one? Did the bomb work? Will all the castaways be stuck in a time loop now, forever reliving the same period of time? Or is this their way out? Will they not crash and continue to live their lives never knowing what they experienced in another time/dimension? Only time will tell.

Gearing up for LOST

I am a huge Lost fan, and I can't wait for the season premiere on February 2nd. I stumbled across this Mr. Clucky commercial. What does this mean for season 6?? I have no clue but I'll be mulling it over for sure.

What do you think will happen in Season 6 of Lost? Personally, I'm still holding out for Kate and Hurley to hook up. We all know it was true love from the start!

IRL Super heroes?

Who hasn't dreamed of being a super hero? You get to wear crazy costumes, be all mysterious and kick a lot of ass! That is what the movie 'Kick Ass' is all about. Plus it has McLovin'! How can you go wrong?! Here is the new trailer for a little taste.

If you decided to be a super hero, who would you be? What would you wear?

Pride & Prejudice & Zombies

I admit, I have yet to read this book. I picked up 'Pride & Prejudice & Zombies' this summer with the intentions of reading it rather quickly. Alas, that was not the case. It has since begun a life of collecting dust as many of my other books have shown a talent for. However, I digress.

Two pieces of news about P&P&Z; it has been announced that Natalie Portman will not only star as Elizabeth Bennet in the film adaptation, but produce it as well. You can read a little about the news here .

The other piece of news about this mashed-up classic, is that there will be a prequel to P&P&Z entitled: 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls'. Personally I'm still holding out for 'Werewolves of Wuthering Heights'.

Kissing Frogs

Yesterday evening I visited the movie theater to watch the newest animated Disney flick, The Princess & The Frog. The movie stuck to the old school disney princess movie themes (poor girl finds Prince Charming and in the end she marries him and they live happily ever after). But apart from falling in love with the Prince, the movie had some great messages. Friendships are imported, maybe more important than boyfriends, and they can last a lifetime. The movie begins with two little girls listening to a story and I love how they stay good friends throughout the entire movie, even though the two girls came from entirely different backgrounds and have drastically different goals in life. Another theme of the movie is about balance. Balancing work and fun and family and making sure you have enough of everything and do not focus too much on any one thing.

Photobucket

The imagery of Louisiana in the film was fantastic. They captured everything from fireflies, the bayou, beignets, gumbo, New Orleans, and Mardi Gras. Oh and Alligators! Having visited Louisiana several years ago it was great to see some of things that I found amazing in the movie. One of the most favorite places I visited was Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. And let me tell you beignets are truly as amazing as the movie makes them sound. On a side note Walt Disney had a facination with the bayou and New Orleans and in Disneyland there is an area called New Orleans Square where you can get traditional cajun dishes including beignets and you can purchase Cafe Du Monde dough as well.

Holy unicorns, Batman!

Insomnia can be quite annoying. However, when late night/early morning surfing of the internets provides me with an epic nerd gem of a blog, I can't really complain. Io9 is a massive source of all things nerdy, with multiple posts each day on comics, sci-fi, science and technology. If you need to waste a few hours, this is the place. But, if you need to cure insomnia, I don't think this is it.

I leave you with Uni-Batman. That is all.

Hello!

Hello! And Welcome to our new blog. Melarkie already introduced the history of nerd love and I'm super excited to continue the nerd love on our shiny new blog! So first up on my posts I've been trying to decide which dress I should buy before I go to Hawaii.

The first dress is very cute and looks tropical but the second one looks nautical and I'm totally loving it and I can't decide which one I should get. This will be the first time purchasing from ModCloth but I'm totally in love with everything on there.

Chocolate Mint Tea & Zombies

Happy New Years! And with that I am offering up our first official Nerd <3 Girls post!

This Christmas I received a large amount of tea in all forms. However, my favorite by far is a loose leaf herbal blend called Northern Serenity by Sipping Streams Tea Company . This is a chocolate mint tea, and is just about the closest thing to heaven I have found. Everyone I have introduced this to has loved it. So in celebration of my favorite tea, I styled a chocolate mint tea outfit. And of course you can't have chocolate mint tea without zombies!
